KHL head Coach calls out league for lack of top talent
The KHL has been a league of infamy lately, as the Ivan Fedotov situation set hockey relations on fire between Russia, the IIHF and the United States.
It took Danny Briere to set things right, and to not only yank Fedotov from the KHL but eventually cause the levee to break, as Matvei Michkov has made it to North America.
As the KHL experiences a major talent drain, it also got some talent back as 7 former NHLers made their way back to the league like Evgeny Kuznetsov, Alexander Barabonov, Nikita Zaitsev, Egor Afansyev, are just some of those who have returned home.
But Kozlov isn't happy with the talent available, as he made a tongue in cheek joke about Cale Makar and Adam Fox haven't signed with a team in the KHL yet.
But will they ever?
The KHL is known as the 2nd best hockey league in the world, and one of the most opportunistic leagues, as it will sign just about anyone.
And makes you think, why would Adam Fox want to sign in a league that has signed players like Brendan Leipsic and now disgraced former NHLers like Dillon Dube and Michael McLoed.
Two of the five former Team Canada world junior hockey players awaiting trial for an alleged group sexual assault in 2018 have signed contracts with teams in the Kontinental Hockey League (KHL).
Dillion Dube is listed on the roster for Belarus-based Dinamo Minsk as being under contract through May 31, 2025, while Kazakhstan-based Astana Barys announced Friday that Michael McLeod has signed a one-year deal with the team.
Maybe one day they can sign Corey Perry and Evander Kane, but maybe the KHL could try and have standards to start with.
