Blackhawks Prospects: What Are The Top Prospects Doing

With Connor Bedard as the foundation of the Chicago Blackhawks rebuild, the team will continue to develop their prospects, while signing veteran talent to keep the team competitive.

The team has prospects currently playing in NCAA Division I Hockey including Oliver Moore, Adam Gajan, Sascha Boisvert, and Sam Rinzel.

Here is the news on the Blackhawk's top college prospects:

Oliver Moore

Oliver Moore is one of the Blackhawks' top prospects and made his college hockey debut in 2023-2024 with the Minnesota Gophers. Moore is a two-time gold medallist with Team USA with U18 and U20 squads, with his speed and skill make him a front-office favorite. He was draft 19th overall in 2023.

In 2023-2024 he played 39 games with the Golden Gophers, scoring 33 points( 9 G, 24 A), with nine multi-point games. The Gophers would finish seventh in the NCAA overall. With a development camp that recently concluded the 5'11" 194 lb forward is headed back to Minnesota for his sophomore year.

Sam Rinzel

Oliver Moore's teammate, and Blackhawks defense prospect Sam Rinzel was a part of the U20 Team USA squad that won a gold medal at the 2024 World Junior Championship in Sweden.

The 6'4" 190lb blueliner was selected 25th overall in 2022 and is considered an offensive-defenseman.

In 39 games with the Golden Gophers, he scored 28 points(2 G, 26 A) and 20 PIMs showing he's got some physicality to his game.

Rinzel is known as a team player, with great puck-handling and skating abilities.

Sascha Boisvert

Another one of the Blackhawks' top prospects, will be joining the University of North Dakota this fall. The 18-year-old forward will improve the Fightin' Hawks offense, as they finished ranked 8th in the 2023-2024 NCAA season.

Boisvert's skills have scouts raving for his offensive abilities, including shooting, passing, and puck-handling capabilities.

The 18-year-old was drafted 18th overall in 2024 and served as an alternate captain in the USHL with the Muskegon Lumberjacks scoring 68 points( 36 G, 32 A) in 61 games.

He has had 21 multipoint games in 2023-2024, accumulated 86 PIMs, and and +5 rating.

Adam Gajan

Gajan was drafted 35th overall in 2023 will bring his North American junior experience to the UMD Bulldogs in the fall. He will join fellow Blackhawks prospect Dominic James on the Bulldog's roster.

The left-catching goalie played in 43 games with the USHL's Green Bay Gamblers with a 3.35 GAA and .893 save percentage, winning 23 games for the team.

He appeared in five playoff games, with a 2.86 GAA and a .901 save percentage.

He represented Slovakia in the 2024 World Junior Championships with the U20 squad, playing four games, with a 2.50 GAA and .916 save percentage.

His best efforts helped Slovakia, beat Czechia, Switzerland, and Norway before being beaten by Finland. The 6'3" 187-pound goalie is considered to be physically strong, with great movement in the net, and a great ability to catch rebounds.
