BREAKING: update on Sea Dogs head coach who collapsed
Last night, a QMJHL game was postponed after a head coach collapsed. The Saint John Sea Dogs provided an update on the coach's health today.
New updates emerge on Crickard's medical emergency
Last night, the Saint John Sea Dogs' head coach, Travis Crickard, collapsed on the bench during a game. Medical personnel immediately tended to him and he was later transported to the hospital. As a result of this medical emergency, the rest of the game was postponed.
Sea Dogs released an update, stating that Crickard has been discharged from the hospital post-testing. The team's statement suggests that the medical emergency is an isolated incident.
In the third period of last night's game in Sydney, Sea Dogs head coach Travis Crickard experienced a medical emergency and was transported to the Cape Breton Regional Hospital for further evaluation.
Travis was released from the hospital this morning and is on his way home to his family in Saint John. What happened last night was scary and the outpouring of support and concern for Travis has meant a lot to him and the team.
He and the team would like to thank those at Centre 200 who responded so quickly, and the emergency medical professionals, led by Dr. RJ Mackenzie, who tended to him.
The statement does not provide any confirmation as to whether or not Crickard will return to coaching behind the Saint John bench, or when he might be able to do so. As he continues to recover, we want to assure him and his family that they are in our thoughts, and we hope to see him back coaching soon.
