The match resulted in a total blowout for the IceDogs, with the Frontenacs winning by a score of 10-0.
Frontenacs players, Christopher Thibedeau and Vann Williams were the stars of the game, each earning four assists, which is a remarkable feat for any team on any given night.
However, the game took a turn late in the third period when IceDogs player Alex Assadourian cross-checked a Frontenacs player, leading to a long 5-on-3 powerplay.
The only penalty he got was a 2 minute minor for cross checking in the 3rd. But then in the box he says "you're fucking dead" with a throat slash to McNamara. So I guess that's what the indefinite suspension is for #OHL https://t.co/eF3RTqqUFz pic.twitter.com/lokRg4Wrp4 Generals Live (@GeneralsUpdates) January 27, 2024
Assadourian's actions didn't end there as he made a throat-slashing gesture towards Luke McNamara while mouthing the words, "You're F**cking dead", from the penalty box.
Assadourian's unsportsmanlike conduct did not go unnoticed, as he has been suspended indefinitely from the OHL with no set date for his return.
The IceDogs are currently in a terrible position in the OHL, as they are last in the Eastern Conference and the entire league, with a record of 12-27-5-1 after 45 games. They are seven points behind both the Peterborough Petes and Barrie Colts.
The latter two teams are tied for the final playoff spot in the Eastern Conference.
Should Assadourian been suspended indefinitely for the 2023-2024 season?
