Gavin McKenna is Connor Bedard's cousin and like Bedard, he is tearing it up in all stages of play.
In Finland, the winger tied a record in the IIHF U18 field, with an assist on a goal. McKenna scored 15 points( 6 G, 9 A) during the championship tournament.
In doing so, he tied Tyson Jost and the top NHL draft prospect for 2024, Macklin Celebrini for points who set the records in 2016 and 2023.
McKenna and Team Canada zeroed Team Latvia 4-0 to advance to the Quarterfinals taking place today.
Other WHL players got on the scoresheet too during the victory.
McKenna is a 2026 NHL draft-eligible forward, who put Team Canada on the scoreboard quickly after a rebound, which fed Maxim Masse for a goal five minutes into play.
