One of the best next-generation NHL draft prospects belongs to the Medicine Hat Tigers.

The cousin of Connor Bedard, Gavin McKenna, is one of these players.

As a 14-year-old, the winger was selected first overall by the Medicine Hat Tigers and given exceptional status.

Like his cousin, McKenna has been tearing up the WHL this season for the Medicine Hat Tigers.

McKenna has been electric all season. Among his accomplishments include being tied for the most assists in one game with five and the most points in a single game with six. He also sits in the top five in power play points with 32 while being ranked in the top two in multiple categories among WHL rookies. With 21 points in his last ten games, he has become one of the most dangerous players across the WHL and is a significant reason behind why the Tigers currently lead the Eastern Conference in goals with 221.

In 52 WHL games this season, the 2026 NHL draft-eligible prospect has accumulated 83 points, including 29 goals and 54 assists.

His 2nd WHL season looks to be the real deal after only playing 16 games last season.

This year, he has also accrued 17 penalty minutes, so he isn't afraid to get dirty.

His U17 season has also been marked by the most points in a game with five, and the most points in a game with six.

The question is, does it run in the family? It must.
