Nick Foligno, now Alternate Captain for the Chicago Blackhawks was a mainstay in the Bruins lineup.
But you could question, how Monty used him as he was mainly in his usage a bottom-six forward.
Whereas with the Blackhawks, Luke Richardson has found a way to utilize his skills in all situations. Foligno has found multiple ways to be relevant including his mentorship with rookie, Connor Bedard.
Foligno has been used on the power-play, penalty kill and is able to move up and down a lineup. A testament to his skills.
However it seems that Montgomery never valued Foligno correctly, as he threw some shade at Foligno comparing him to plug, Pat Maroon.
Maroon, now a 4th line grinder who was a benefactor of being on the Tampa Bay Lightning and St. Louis Blues to give him relevance, was compared to Foligno.
Where, Foligno is nowhere as terrible a player as Pat Maroon, intentionally or not this is shade of the lowest kind.
Foligno has been a leader everywhere he lands in the NHL and was one of the Columbus Blue Jackets' most important players during his tenure there, deserves more respect, in our opinion.
