5 Observations: Blackhawks vs Wild Features Bedard Chirps and Goal in 4-3 Loss Monday
The Minnesota Wild beat the Chicago Blackhawks, 4-3: 5 observations
1. Late Spark - The Blackhawks had a late spark at the end with a goal with just over 30 seconds remaining in the game on the empty net chance.
The puck was behind the net and then centered to
Jason Dickinson for the goal.
However, that goal came just after
Teuvo Teravainen missed a wide open net, so that goal could've possibly tied it.
2. The Young Stars scrapping - The young guns came out last night as there was a little scrum in front of the net. Wild player
Marco Rossi poked
Arvid Soderblom after the whistle. Bedard ended up going to him, talked smack and then shoved Rossi from behind.
Rossi and Bedard then got into it, which then led
Alex Vlasic to come in and give Rossi a little jab to the face. It's nice to see the young players finally show some fire and get into scraps.
3.
Connor Bedard Beauty - Connor Bedard scored a beautiful goal tonight. The puck tricled away from Minnesota in their own end and Bedard picked it up.
Connor went down and had a two-on-one chance with
Tyler Bertuzzi. Bedard eyed Bertuzzi the entire time and looked like he was going to attempt the cross crease, but then put one through the pads of Gustavsson and scored.
4.
Frank Nazar - Frank Nazar is very good. Nazar had a lot of quality chances tonight and really moved the puck well.
Unfortunately, he couldn't net a goal, however, he got his first NHL assist tonight.
Nick Foligno passed the puck to Nazar, who then took a shot. Gustavsson got the pad down and made the save, but then Foligno picked up the crumbs and slipped one by.
5. An Unfortunate Outcome - The Blackhawks led in every stat possible last night.
Except for the penalty minutes, as they had two, and Chicago didn't get a single power play all night, and faceoffs, as they tied at 23/56 for 50%.
They played well, but Soderblom could've done a smidge more in between the pipes. For being the worst team in the league record wise, they definitely have heart and put up a fight, especially against the Wild, who are at the top of the standings. The Hawks should hang their heads high.
