In a recent face-off between the Nashville Predators and the Chicago Blackhawks, things got heated when Jeremy Lauzon from the Predators laid a cheap hit on young Blackhawks star Philipp Kurashev.
The hit looked pretty rough, and Nick Foligno from the Blackhawks wasn't having it.
Foligno wasted no time and dropped the gloves to have a go at Lauzon, showing he's not okay with his teammate taking a dangerous hit. It all went down after Kurashev got slammed into the boards, and Foligno stepped up to make a point.
That's our (pretty much) captain 😎 pic.twitter.com/Ok015a9MWw Blackhawks Talk (@NBCSBlackhawks) January 3, 2024
Foligno, being a leader on the team, wanted to make it crystal clear that dangerous moves won't be accepted.
Now, there's talk about the NHL Department of Player Safety looking into the hit on Kurashev. Hits near the boards that could lead to injuries often get checked out by the league, and this one might end up with a suspension.
As fans keep an eye on what happens next, one thing's for sure the Blackhawks are a team that sticks together. Foligno stepping in not only dealt with the immediate problem but also emphasized how important it is to keep players safe in the rough and fast world of hockey.
Great to see the response by Nick Foligno late in the second period to stick up for Philipp Kurashev after a hard hit. #Blackhawks kill the penalty and will start the third on the power play. Great chance to get back in this game. 1-0 Nashville after two periods Chris Vosters (@CJVosters) January 3, 2024
