He has been with the Kraken ever since and has enjoyed working with his son Nick, who is also an analyst for the Kraken.
Tonight, Eddie is returning to his former home, the United Center, to call the game between the Seattle Kraken and the Chicago Blackhawks.
Despite loving his current job in Seattle, Eddie will undoubtedly feel emotional during the game as he has many ties to the Blackhawks and the organization.
Eddie Olczyk will call tonight's Blackhawks game on TNT something which still has extra meaning for him.
"It's always emotional, but it's always fun."@JeffAgrest's story catching up with Edzo: https://t.co/hZDZHh1w3Q Ben Pope (@BenPopeCST) January 24, 2024
Eddie, who was a Blackhawks draft pick in 1984, had been part of the Blackhawks broadcast team since 2006 but was disappointed when the team wouldn't offer him a contract extension or the same terms as the Kraken did.
However, he enjoys his current role and is excited about calling this game tonight, even if he may feel a bit flustered with emotions.
Olcyzk felt that bringing in Nick Foligno was one of the team's best decisions during the off-season. He's also been impressed with how Luke Richardson has led the team this season as well.
The Kraken are 19-18-9 and aren't the same team who were playoff-bound last year, as they come to the United Center looking to add their 20th win with the former Blackhawks legend in tow.
