A Blackhawks top prospect announces next career move and it's not in Chicago
It appears that Blackhawks prospect Martin Misiak will not be joining the organization this year and will head back to the Erie Otters of the OHL according to Ben Pope of the sun times.
The 18-year-old winger who stands at 6 foot one and 201 pounds was drafted by the Blackhawks in the 2023 entry draft, in the second round, 55th overall. According to eliteprospects.com, he plays a aggressive style and a strong forecheck along with creating space for other players to break out end be longer in the offensive zone.
He also has a strong defensive IQ which gives Peace of Mind for coaches. During last year's season with the otters, he played 60 games while scoring 23 goals with 24 assists for 47 points And had 33 penalty minutes.
With the Blackhawks adding many players this offseason especially through free agency and having a high number of draft picks, the likelihood of Milsiak making the team is remote.
It's expected that general manager Kyle Davidson and along with his development team want to continue to have him build his game with the OHL for at least another season until making the leap into the AHL with the Rockford Icehogs.
This would be a smart move on the Blackhawks part.
