Chicago Blackhawks acquire Patrick Kane' ex-Red Wings teammate?
The Chicago Blackhawks could use one more right-shot forward, and one of the best available forwards is former Red Wing, Daniel Sprong.
Sprong was a part of the same Red Wings team, as Patrick Kane in 2023-2024 and has been one of the most efficient forwards in the NHL the last two seasons.
He scored 18 goals and 43 points last season, and in 2022-2023, scored 21 goals and 46 points in Seattle.
This all the while only on the ice, with an average of 12:00 TOI in 2023-2024. His 20-goal season in Seattle, led to his current one-year deal in Detroit which expired, at $2M AAV, compared to his contract with the Kraken, prior at $750K.
While his play away from the puck, may leave much to be desired he's a good goal-scoring forward, who could be used on the power play and could be sheltered in the top nine playing with grittier forwards.
F Daniel Sprong is still available.
Sources say Canucks have interest.
His next contract could be around between $1M- $2M AAV and could fit underneath the Blackhawks salary cap easily.
Not to mention, this move would improve the forward depth significantly, while giving younger forwards more time to find their game in Rockford.
