The Blackhawks selected Nazar with the 13th overall pick in 2022, the pick was acquired in the Kirby Dach trade.
Now, two years post-draft date he is competing for a spot on the roster and is determined to be on the opening night roster.
The 20-year-old center spent the last two seasons at the University of Michigan, and in 2023-2024 scored 41 points( 17 G, 24 A).
He also played a three-game stint for the Blackhawks at the end of the last season, scoring his 1st NHL goal.
He's feeling pretty confident about his play and has a lot more to show the team during training camp.
Nazar could end up making the team, but he has a struggle ahead of him as the Blackhawks signed Tyler Bertuzzi, Teuvo Teraveinen, Pat Maroon, and Craig Smith to contend with.
Nazar isn't giving up and will fight to prove the Blackhawks they need to keep him around. Throughout rookie camp it seems, he's done his best to make it so.
The Blackhawks are still rebuilding and Nazar is one of the many pieces of the puzzle coming together.
