Blackhawks complete major transaction with rookie defenseman Kevin Korchinski

Ahead of the Chicago Blackhawks game against the Dallas Stars tonight, the team has recalled Wyatt Kaiser and sent Kevin Korchinski to the minors.

The Chicago Blackhawks have made a lineup change as today they have sent former 1st round pick, Kevin Korchinski to the AHL.

Korchinski had nine games to prove himself this season in the NHL, while Alec Martinez remains out of the lineup. The Blackhawk's top prospect was held scoreless during his short stint in the NHL, with only 4 PIMs to his name this season and a -5.

While the team has recalled Wyatt Kaiser who has spent the majority of the season in the NHL, playing 28 games with the Blackhawks and scoring 1 points( 1 A) and 14 PIMS.

His stint in Rockford ends, as he played 4 games, and also tallied a point in the AHL 1 point( 1 A).

He's proven to the Blackhawks he's a reliable contributor and capable of playing on both ends of the ice.

Kaiser was sent down to the AHL prior to the NHL's holiday break this season.

The Chicago Blackhawks play the Dallas Stars tonight at the United Center at 7:30 p.m. CT. The game can be seen on ESPN, heard on WGN Radio, and in Spanish on Latino Media Network radio, 1200 WRTO-AM.

While the for the Blackhawks, the demotion for Korchinski to the AHL is like we've seen with Lukas Reichel in the past.

A chance to regain his confidence, for when the time comes for him to play in the NHL again this year, or next.

Kaiser, 22, has appeared in 28 games with the Blackhawks during the 2024-25 campaign, tallying one assist.

He ranks third on the team with 54 blocked shots, ranks fourth among team defensemen with 32 shots on goal and has logged 33 hits, establishing new career highs in each category.

Additionally, Kaiser has posted one assist in four AHL games with the IceHogs this season.

Kaiser's contract expires at the end of the season and is a pending RFA, making $912K AAV.
