The NHL along with the City of Chicago are working hard to complete the work for the NHL Winter Classic that is set to begin on December 31st has old man winter continues to throw poor conditions against the construction workers.

Over the past number of days, the weather has not been ideal for construction work as rain and snow along with some freezing rain has been pelting the area of Chicago and around the Great Lakes region.

Ben Pope posted a tweet on the X platform showing the outlook of the next few days for the weather and they do not look promising. There is a great chance of sleet and snow along with rain in the Chicago area during the game which could hamper some fans wanting to go and brave the elements.

The NHL had Steve Mayer discussing on how the construction is proceeding and feels that the weather may not be a huge factor after all but is pleased on how everything is coming together.

The weather will always be a factor when it comes to these games but that's also what draws people to them especially when it snows or has cold weather that reminds them of their past when they played out on the pond or on a rink.

This will be the second time that the Blackhawks have an outdoor game at Wrigley Field as their last winter classic was held in 2009. This year, the St Louis Blues will be coming to town to take on Connor Bedard and his Blackhawks.

The team is looking to turn things around after going 3-3 through their last six games. The Blackhawks have one game remaining against the Dallas Stars before the winter classic which will take place on December 31st.
