Blackhawks Trade Deadline Preview: Who Stays, Who Goes in 2025?
With the NHL trade deadline just around the corner on March 7, Chicago Blackhawks fans are wondering what moves GM Kyle Davidson might pull off.
Sitting at the bottom of the standings, per usual trend for the Blackhawks, the team is still appearing in full rebuild mode, making them sellers at this years NHL trade deadline.
Top of the list is defenseman Seth Jones.
His $9.5 million cap hit and 26 points in 40 games this season, alongside his right-handed shot makes him a top trade target.
Jones is reportedly open to a move if it lands him in the playoffs.
The Blackhawks could snag a first-round pick or a solid prospect in return for Jones, if they sweeten the deal with salary retention.
Forward
Ryan Donato, lighting it up with 19 goals-already a career high.
At 28 and on a cheap $2 million deal, he's a bargain for playoff contenders like the Edmonton Oilers or Tampa Bay Lightning who need an offensive boost.
Donato's career-year playing on the Blackhawks' top line could fetch Kyle Davidson a third-round pick no problem. He's became a fan favorite in Chicago, but sadly in the time of the rebuild, was only brought here to be flipped at some point.
Other names in the mix according to ESPN's trade board include
Connor Murphy, a defenseman with a year left on his deal, and
Petr Mrazek, but his past injury issues could keep him in Chicago.
Buckle up Blackhawks fans, it will be a busy week!
