The Chicago Blackhawks have been on a coaching carousel ever since the firing of Joel Quenneville, and it looks like it's going to continue, as Anders Sorensen isn't a popular man right now.

Lukas Reichel is one of the reasons people are so up in arms. Reichel, in the game against the Toronto Maple Leafs on Sunday, only saw the ice for seven minutes and thirty-five seconds. Why? Sorensen apparently didn't like his game.
Lukas Reichel didn't play the entire third period.

Interim coach said it was a coach's decision. «Didn't like his game.»
The Blackhawks have done an awful job with Reichel's development. Coming off a promising 2022-23 season with 15 points in 23 games after being called up from Rockford to finish the season, ever since then, he's been lackluster.
Sure, that's on his play too, but the last couple coaching staffs (Luke Richardson and Sorensen) have done nothing to help him.
Last season, Chicago decided to send him down to the AHL for ten games. There, he tallied eight points. Reichel got called back up and received the same treatment- scratched, put on the bottom-six, used as the team's punching bag, repeat. He's never been given a consistent top-six chance.
Reichel is only 22 years old and he isn't too far gone yet; give him the minutes and support he needs and build him into something.
Lukas isn't the only example.
Sorensen continues to play veterans like TJ Brodie and proceeds to sit young guys like Nolan Allan and Ethan Del Mastro.
Brodie has continued to be the worst defenseman on the team, yet he still gets inserted in the lineup. What does Brodie have that Del Mastro and Allan don't or can't match?
Allan also made it onto the mid-season rookie All Star team and is better than Brodie.
Sorensen is turning the wrong corner with these veterans and is being too shy to sit them, so the young guys are taking the blow. And that doesn't create a good locker room, either.
Sorensen shouldn't return next year if that's his mindset, and if this continues, you may even see fans start calling for his job this season, because this was the main problem with Richardson, and it's unacceptable.
