Brossoit would sign a two-year $3.3 Million AAV salary cap hit and will be the backup to Petr Mrazek.
Brossoit would start his career in the NHL in Edmonton, before moving on to Winnipeg, Las Vegas, and back to Vegas before arriving in Chicago during free agency.
Davidson didn't just sign a backup goalie, he was a part of the Stanley Cup-winning Vegas Golden Knights in 2022-2023.
His return to Winnipeg in 2023-2024 saw him play 23 games, with an .927 save percentage with a 2.00 GAA.
But his goal in Chicago is to push for the starting goalie spot here:
The Blackhawks originally had bet on Petr Mrazek and Arvid Soderblom to be the tandem to make the club successful, but it appears Soderblom is headed back to the AHL.
While Brossoit will be out five to seven weeks, there's hope he'll return from his meniscus surgery prior to the team's first game against the Utah HC on October 8th.
But that could be idealistic, as Brossoit could miss the first four road games of the season, which could extend his absence until the 17th of October.
Hopefully, by then, he'll be fully recovered and ready to face the new-look San Jose Sharks in the United Center.
