Discussion has begun on the Blackhawks on CHSN podcast of the idea that the Blackhawks would hold back Blackhawks Connor Bedard from playing in the Four Nations Faceoff to be held in February.
The talks were brought up on Blackhawks Breakaway a new Podcast on CHSN with hosts Pat Boyle and Charlie Roumeliotis as they discussed the idea that Connor Bedard should be participating in this tournament hosted by the NHL as a possible way to unlock his next level as he continues to struggle this season.
Both hosts agree that allowing him to participate would be the best for him mentally and for his game as he has scored few and far between this season and appears to be very frustrated on the lack of winds and the lack of results on his game.
The Blackhawks superstar in the making has had a lacklustre year as he has played 21 games, scored three goals with 12 assists for 15 points and has remained in a gold drought since late October when the Blackhawks played against the Dallas Stars.
Whether it's a sophomore slump or the fact that the team is devoid of depth and a goal drought that has been spreading across the entire roster at times Remains the largest question mark on this team.
Having Bedard surrounded with elite players from various teams all playing for the same goal of winning the tournament for the country would be a significant confidence booster for the youngster.
The likelihood of Bedard taking in the experience and elevating his game to match the other superstars that would be with him would be monumental for his game and the ability to learn from other elite players who could give him pointers on maybe how to be a better player.
There is no doubt in my mind that this is the right course of action in that for the two weeks this tournament is on every other team that has players in this tournament would be facing the same threat of injury.
Hopefully, the Blackhawks organization would not prohibit him from participating and allow him to unlock other aspects of his game that would benefit the Blackhawks in the long run.
