The Chicago Blackhawksare in a tough situation with goalie Laurent Brossoit right now. He went through a procedure during the summer to repair his meniscus.

But the news hasn't gotten any better, as it's been reported that Brossoit will undergo another procedure adding another month and a half to the waiting period for his return.

Brossoit is 64-46-13 with a 2.64 GAA and a .911 save percentage in 140 career games over 10 seasons. He also has played for Edmonton and Vegas.

The former Stanley Cup champion originally received a diagnosis of return to the ice 5-7 weeks the last time we covered the topic.

The Blackhawks announced goaltender Laurent Brossoit underwent successful meniscus surgery on his right knee on Tuesday at Northwestern Memorial Hospital in Chicago. He is expected to make a full recovery and return in 5-7 weeks.

Now, it seems that it could be more than close to half the season before Laurent Brossoit ever puts on a Blackhawks jersey.

For now, his time to return according to Charlie Roumeliotis is "TBD" which is a big red flag for Hawks fans.

His lack of availability will make the Blackhawks have to choose between ridingArvid Soderblom for four morestarts or recalling someone like Drew Commesso from the AHL in order to stop the possibility of waiving the improved Swedish goalie.

The Blackhawks will be playing the Minnesota Wild today, a divisional rival, and someone like Laurent Brossoit in the net would be helpful in giving, Petr Mrazek a break.

Instead, the Blackhawks risk the possibility of driving Mrazek into the ground as he once again carries the rebuilding franchise on his back.

We'd love to see Brossoit back in the net as soon as possible, but for now, it's a waiting game.
