Chicago Blackhawks emerge as suitors for 23-year old former ninth overall pick of the Anaheim Ducks
The trade deadline is nearing and the deals have already kicked off with a big
blockbuster three-way trade between the Blackhawks, Hurricanes and Avalanche, but that's just the start.
According to reports, a new big fish emerges on the trade board in Anaheim Ducks'
Trevor Zegras, who Pat Verbeek, their general manager, is reportedly interested in moving.
The Ducks' season has been far from positive, but Zegras still shows promise on the struggling Anaheim roster.
Blackhawks going all in on Trevor Zegras
At a low $5.75 million annual salary, plenty of teams are entertaining the idea of acquiring Zegras, as well as the Chicago Blackhawks and their projected $30M+ of projected cap space this off-season.
The Blackhawks must build a strong forward core surrounding former first overall pick
Connor Bedard, and the left-handed Zegras could be the ideal partner, on a trio line looking similar to this:
Zegras is not all flashiness on the ice, he is a hard-working player acknowledged by his head coach quite often, including on Monday.
Unfortunately, with such low salary and big promise it is attracting other destinations such as the Colorado Avalanche and the Buffalo Sabres.
The Ducks are in an odd stage, with some juicy skilled youthful players, but also aging veterans.
The Blackhawks have a solid mix of both that the Anaheim Ducks could entertain, including a lot of draft capital.
