There's bad news afoot for hockey fans who want to watch the Four Nations Face-Off in Montreal, as a snowstorm is expected to arrive on Thursday.
The Chicago Blackhawks' own
Teuvo Teravainen may be stuck in Montreal on Thursday and may have to wait for a later date to play his first match.
The Finnish forward was scheduled to play against the United States on February 13th in the
Bell Centre.
Now, with news of a major snowstorm arriving on Thursday, it could halt play for the day, if not longer.
A whopping 13 inches of snow could cover Quebec this week, in a low-pressure weather system that is gaining steam as it makes the trek from Texas to the Northeast.
Massive Snowfall Expected in Quebec, Canada
The weather forecasts have issued a prediction of snowfall in the province that could range from 7 to 13 inches.
The latest models project low visibility, thanks to gusting winds, and blowing snow.
According to Environment Canada, the heavy amount of snowfall could be unsafe for commuters and motorists in the area.
Bad news for hockey players whose primary method of travel is by personal car, or team bus.
«Visibility may be suddenly reduced at times in heavy snow. There may be a significant impact on rush hour traffic in urban areas.»
-Environment Canada
Those who are preparing to make a trip to Quebec to witness the game that night should have a plan in place, in case things go south metaphorically.
With a mass amount of snowfall on the horizon, a possible cancellation of the night's events in the Bell Centre may have to be considered.
The game between Finland and Team USA is scheduled to take place on Thursday the 13th at 8 PM in the Bell Centre.
Keep your eyes opened, and eyes peeled for a Gary Bettman announcement on the events that night.
Keep your snow shovels handy.
