The Chicago Blackhawks is one of the many NHL teams who have announced they're in the market for a center.

The team's depth is all in the AHL, as the prospects will continue to get the majority of the minutes to develop. This leads the team to be short-handed in the NHL, as the only true centers they have in the bigs, are arguably Connor Bedard and Jason Dickinson.

This leaves the teams thin on center depth having to rotate out players like Nick Foligno, Philipp Kurashev, and Lukas Reichel as centers in the organization.

But none of these are "natural" centers, as Kurashev, and Reichel have found success on the wing in the NHL, and AHL.

The team is currently 2-6-1 and will take on the Colorado Avalanche tonight, while a team that is lacking key players, has a system in place that ensures a chance to win.

While the Blackhawks have the ability to pull off wins if they work hard enough nightly, they need more help.

Someone who could line up behind Bedard on the 2C position, as line projections were released earlier.

Nick Foligno will be slotting in on the 2nd line, in between Taylor Hall, and Tyler Bertuzzi. Which should make the line extra gritty, but will it be successful?

According to David Pagnotta of The Fourth Period, the Blackhawks are actively considering adding a second-line center. The team is being cautious not to rush into any moves and the market isn't exactly spitting out centers the Blackhawks can acquire, but the team may dip their toes back in if they believe Bedard is frustrated.

Meanwhile, Ben Pope writes, «They have 11 first+second round picks already accumulated for the next three drafts, and the 50-contract limit is eventually going to come into play given the size of the prospect pool, so those picks could be more expendable.»

The Blackhawks have plenty of assets they could deal with to find worthwhile talent in the NHL and could move extra talent out to make the cap space work.

But with so much draft capital, will Kyle Davidson decide to keep it or spend it all?

If the Blackhawks are going to try and acquire a center, they'll have to pay a premium for the position.

2nd line centers are developed, they don't magically fall out of the sky for 7th-round draft picks and backup goalies.
