The Chicago Blackhawks were unable to put up an effort that would secure a victory over the St. Louis Blues on New Year's Eve.
The team would give up 6 goals, and with Tyler Bertuzzi and Taylor Hall being the only goal-scorers that night, they'd be on the end of irate fans, and an irate GM.
Davidson would head into the locker room, according to the Spittin' Chiclets Podcast and lay into the team.
Connor Bedard would come away from the game with an assist, with a -1 and 2 giveaways, on 26 shifts played that night. While not terrible, it wasn't an effort that could close the gap that the Blue and Coach Jim Montgomery widened.
The Chicago Blackhawks had the perfect setting for a come-from-behind victory that night, as yet again we see them succumb to a Blues team that is arguably punching above their weight.
After Davidson's conversation with the team, players spoke out and were clearly emotional:
As Jim Montgomery's team is in a re-tool and despite the addition of Cam Fowler isn't the same 2019 Cup-winning squad, but they're high flying and mean.
GM Kyle Davidson spent nearly $30 Million dollar at free agency in July to improve the squad and they have yet to deliver this season.
It's hard to be angry at Davidson when he himself is chiding the team for failing to hold themselves to a winning standard.
Something Nick Foligno, Seth Jones, and other leaders on the depth chart need to address.
The Blackhawks only had 4 players score a point that night, as Tyler Bertuzzi, Connor Bedard, Taylor Hall, and Ryan Donato put up a point a piece.
Not good enough.
The team is now 12-24-2 and 8th in the Central Division, after losing to their rivals.
