Major Announcement from Blackhawks Hall of Famer Jeremy Roenick to Chicago media
Future Hall of Famer Jeremy Roenick has made a major announcement regarding his Hall of Fame career.
The Winger said he was inspired by Mike Eurizone as the "Miracle" team defeated the USSR, he always wanted to play hockey in the Olympics.
He was afforded the chance in 2002, playing with former teammate Chris Chelios for Team USA.
Roenick and Chris Chelios would win a silver medal with Team USA Hockey, as the 2002 team was loaded with players such as Mike Modano, Roenick, John LeClair, Keith Tkachuk, and Brett Hull are some notables.
It'd make sense they would be victorious, as any team with those names during that period could easily secure a Stanley Cup in the NHL. A verifiable NHL dream team.
Roenick was selected as a future Hockey Hall of Fame during the summer of 2024.
An emotional circumstance by any means, as he had been shunned regularly:
«I couldn't give them my money, couldn't get my coffee. The guy was looking at me with tears in my eyes. It was kind of embarrassing but also one of the greatest moments ever,» the 54-year-old said about being elected as part of the Class of 2024.
«I had just gotten out of the gym and saw a 416 number and I froze. This is crazy for me."
This is a highly emotional topic for the Blackhawks winger, who many thought he'd never make it to the Hall.
But his NHL career speaks for itself, as a prototypical power-forward, who could skate, check, and score he belongs there.
This donation is a nice gesture from Roenick to ensure his contributions to hockey are memorialized forever in Toronto.
Not to mention, that jacket while 22 years old, looks so clean!
