Member of the Chicago Blackhawks Leaves The Team Due To Personal Reasons

The Chicago Blackhawks signed veteran defenseman TJ Brodie to a two-year contract during free agency.

Since then he's played 50 games for the Blackhawks this season and scored 9 points (2 G, 7 A).

He's typically been a bottom-pairing defenseman and has seen linemates come and go with injuries ( Alec Martinez), and call-ups( Wyatt Kaiser, and Nolan Allan).

Now, Brodie himself will take leave of the Blackhawks due to a personal matter according to NHL Insider Charlie Roumeliotis.

While we hope all is well with the Brodie family, it's just a luck of the draw that this issue occurred while the Blackhawks were powered down for the Four Nations Face-Off.

According to Charlie Roumeliotis, the defenseman will be back with the team by Wednesday.

Unlike Teuvo Teravainen, who has been absent due to being nominated to Finland's team for the Four Nations Face-Off, Brodie has been able to get some rest.

The Chatham, ONT-born defenseman was selected in the Fourth round of the 2008 NHL Draft.

He's only represented Team Canada during the 2013 IIHF World Championship and hasn't seen much international play since.

Brodie signed a two-year deal with the Blackhawks to provide veteran leadership to a young team, the deal pays him $3.75 million AAV.

We hope there's nothing serious in the Brodie camp, and is ready to begin competition when the Blackhawks take the ice this upcoming weekend.
