New price for Blackhawks streaming subscription sparks fan outrage
The Chicago Sports Network has had a domino fall in the latest news, as they struggle to find more carriers for the network.
FuboTV and the Chicago Sports Network have announced a multi-year deal which resulted in the launch of the "Pro Base Personal Plan" after the deal was signed.
While we're all happy fans now have one way of viewing Chicago Blackhawks hockey after a long and unjust wait. It seems there are always some "buts" right?
Well, the Blackhawks fans will always have access to Blackhawks live telecast through the network, along with the White Sox, and Bulls games as well.
But
The cost may be prohibitive for some Blackhawks fans, compared to a regular subscription to a service like ESPN+ or Hulu, which by all means is a bit more affordable.
The cost of a monthly subscription to FuboTV? $79.99 USD monthly, which is about $800 annually.
That to watch only the Blackhawks couldn't be a good enough price point for fans who are angry, even if they do receive a $20.00 discount from the beginning month.
«Fubo continues to deliver more access for sports fans to watch their favorite teams, and they have made it clear that Chicago sports and their fans are an important part of that growth,» said CHSN president Jason Coyle. «As we continue to aim to be on every platform where our fans watch, we are excited about the opportunity the Fubo platform provides our fans through their flexible billing terms and availability everywhere.»
Nevertheless, while there's some good news in this announcement, this doesn't blunt the blow of bad business practices which led to the whole quandary.
The Chicago Sports Network launched on October 1st, 2024 and fans thought that they would be able to view their beloved sports teams on a regular basis, but thanks to a stingy Comcast and Xfinity unwilling to negotiate carriage fees, the plan was skirted, for now.
Fans are outraged about the whole ordeal and have yet to be made whole, as the finger-pointing continues between Comcast/Xfinity and the CHSN.
The Chicago Sports Network (CHSN) launched October 1, 2024, across multiple platforms with plans to deliver the Chicago Blackhawks, Bulls and White Sox games to the widest audience possible. CHSN will deliver more than 300 live Blackhawks, Bulls, and Sox games annually, along with first-class pre- and-post game coverage, and 24/7 multisport programming. .CHSN is available on DirecTV, DirecTV Stream, U-Verse, Astound/RCN, Fubo and other multiple pay-tv providers throughout the Chicago DMA. The network will broadcast from studios located in both Chicago's United Center and Guaranteed Rate Field. For the latest information about CHSN visit CHSN.com.
