Former Blackhawks superstar Patrick Kane continues to show his greatness as he moved to 5th overall in active skaters for the most game-winning goals as a US born player.
Kane has scored 77 game-winning goals which puts him tied with former Pittsburgh Penguins' star Bill Guerin. His goal came when the Red Wings were battling with the New York Islanders where he won the game in overtime with a score of 1-0.
It's clear his recent hip surgery has not slowed down the aging-veteran one bit.
Kane has had a slow start to his season but since has caught fire and has begun to climb in his point totals. In the past seven games, he has scored two goals with three assists for five points and is a - 1. Red Wings Head coach Derek Lalonde continues to give him a decent amount of ice time as he is averaging 17 minutes and 12 seconds per game.
The Red Wings have high hopes that he will continue to show that he can play at the level that he has in the past. Last season, Kane practically willed the team almost to the playoffs but fell short on game 82 as they had the points to get in but failed in the tiebreaker.
Time will tell if this team can make the playoffs but, in the meantime, Kane will do all he can to continue to push for more game-winning goals as he has his next sights on Zach Parise who holds 83 game-winning goals.
