Seth Jones Comments About the Blackhawks rub fans the wrong way
Seth Jones is a highly polarizing player for Chicago Blackhawks fans, with his high salary and lack of elite play we've seen from him in the past, with the Columbus Blue Jackets. He was of course available for interviews, as teams in the NHL complete exit interviews, to wrap up the season.
Jones' comments have been viewed in an inflammatory light, as Jones offered his perspective on the direction of the franchise. Many weren't excited about his view of his own tenure in Chicago as well.
Jones is on 3 year, of an 8 year contract and was signed by Stan Bowman before his exit from the NHL. His contract is viewed as high and unnecessary, at an $9.5 Million AAV.
His view on the rebuild was unfavorable, as he stated when he signed with the team in 2021, that wasn't the route they were going at the time. Of course, soon after Bowman left Kyle Davidson took control and has course corrected.
He mentioned if he had known this was the direction the team was taking he wouldn't have bothered signing the deal:
This of course, has set the internet on fire as many fans feel slighted by Jones comments. Jones, of course being one of the highly paid players on a not-so-great roster has caused an influx of dislike from what could be considered a suffering fanbase:
Those who were even willing to be empathetic with Jones during his 3-year tenure in Chicago may have had their fill of rhetoric from Seth Jones as they want to see change:
Maybe it is best for the Blackhawks and Jones to part ways and for Davidson to find Jones, a new home and save more cap space for someone who wants to be here.
