Patrick Kane has seen and has been through multiple generations of players in Chicago alone, but also in his career.

Well, when he was with the Chicago Blackhawks, Kane decided he wanted a change to his power play unit.

On the Spittin' Chiclets podcast, now Tampa Bay Lightning player and former Blackhawk Brandon Hagel said that Kane went up to the coach and demanded that Hagel would be on his power play line.

Of course, Kane gets what Kane wants, so it happened.

Patrick Kane went to the Blackhawks' coach and demanded Hagel was on the powerplay with him.

Brandon Hagel talks about what it was like playing with Showtime.

If you play in Chicago when Kane or Jonathan Toews were there, it was most likely your dream to be on a line with at least one of them at the United Center. Well, Hagel got to live that dream.

Hagel said that the two of them still text to this day and built a relationship not only on the ice but off the ice as well, and since they're nine years apart in terms of age, Brandon says that Patrick is an idol to him.

Hagel was traded to Tampa Bay in 2022 for two first round picks and then signed an extension for $6,500,000 million per year. Hagel in his last year in Chicago had 37 points in 55 games. Last season with the Lightning, he had 26 goals and 49 assists, adding up to 75 points in 82 games. This season it looks like he's going to top it, though, as he has 15 points in 14 games right now for Tampa.

Hagel panned out really nicely, and you could even say some of that wouldn't have happened without the mentorship from Patrick Kane.
