There is mystery surrounding Jonathan Toews' absence at a star-studded Blackhawks tribute
Sunday, February 25th, Chris Chelios was honored with a star-studded event, surrounded by friends, family and teammates.
The night was special as Chelios' jersey was retired, accompanied by Patrick Kane's heartwarming return to the United Center.
With Connor Bedard at the helm, the past and the future met all at once.
In addition to Wayne Gretzky, Eddie Vedder, and Dennis Rodman all making appearances. The night even capped off intermission, with a Cindy Crawford goal during the Shoot-The-Puck segment.
Brent Seabrook, Marian Hossa, Duncan Keith, and Patrick Sharp attended the event as well. However, the night had one character missing from a normal hockey night in Chicago, Jonathan Toews.
To attend to his health, Jonathan Toews stepped away from hockey and the NHL. Despite being absent from the celebration, he watched the game and offered his opinion on Patrick Kane's return. Kane and he remain close to this day, it seems.
Recently, Toews made a video appearance for North Dakota University Hockey, in which he appeared healthier rested, relaxed, and with a positive attitude.
The situation has sparked speculation about Toews' future on ice and whether he'll decide to return to the NHL. The opinions are divided, with some anticipating a return and others remaining uncertain.
It was a touching reminder that sports careers are fleeting, so we should appreciate what they do while they are still here.
