Washington Capitals Goal-Scoring Captain Alex Ovechkin Out Four To Six Weeks After Sustaining Broken Bone In Leg: Left Fibula

The Washington Capitals have made a heartbreaking revelation to fans, that impacts their captains goal hunt of Wayne Gretzky's NHL record.

According to ESPN, Capitals' Ovechkin out 4-6 weeks with broken leg

"Washington Capitals captain Alex Ovechkin underwent further evaluation with team doctors. It was confirmed that Ovechkin has a fracture to his left fibula and is anticipated to miss 4-6 weeks."

A broken leg can refer to a fracture in the tibia (shin bone) or the fibula (calf bone). A broken leg is a major injury that requires immediate medical attention.

The injury creates a great toll on Ovechkin's strong pursuit of Wayne Gretzky's All-Time NHL goal record.

On Tuesday, the Capital revealed Ovechkin would be week-to-week following this collision seen below.

He met with team physicians Wednesday before receiving an official diagnosis, and sadly the worst is confirmed.

A broken left fibula will sideline him for 4-6 weeks, or as Tom Wilson, Ovechkin's teammate states, 'no time'.
