The Chicago Blackhawks and Nick Foligno cemented their victory over Paul Maurice and the Florida Panthers tonight, with a 3-1 empty net goal.

But prior to that during the 2nd period, the team was doing their best to keep the cats at bay.

While Connor Bedard isn't a defenseman, maybe he should consider adding more size to his frame.

Forsling just demolished Bedard, and it happened without any response from Nick Foligno, or Pat Maroon!?

What is going on, did Maroon or Foligno forget the code or something?

It seems so.

The Forsling hit happened with 15 seconds left in the 1st period on the left side of the ice near the boards.

Despite it all, Bedard and the Blackhawks would come out of the game on top with a 2 goal lead.

But while your star winger is lacking confidence, and you're the Captain you're going to let a dirty defenseman like Gustav Forsling ragdoll him?

Seems like a neglect of duty by either veteran tonight.

Bedard Lacks Grit and Confidence

Bedard continued his goal slump tonight, as he failed to register a point against the reigning Stanley Cup champions.

«I think I got to find good spots for myself, try to get the puck in good areas,» Bedard said. «I think that's something that's been tough for me right now, getting the puck in a spot that makes it easy to make a play. So I kind of can't handcuff myself.»

For starters, he can quit getting caught by a depth defenseman like Forsling, and start controlling the ice, like we expect a 1st line winger should.

Tonight he had 2 blocked shots, 1 giveaway, and played 22 shifts tonight with 19:32 TOI, and no shots on goal.

Things need to change for Bedard, what will Luke Richardson do? Pull his next linemate out of the hat? That seems to be how he operates lately.

And what of his play style? Obviously, he isn't a power-forward, but learning more from Foligno would be beneficial for him. He allows himself to be pushed out of play too easily still.

Do you think Connor Bedard or Luke Richardson is the problem right now?
