The Blackhawks have submitted a nominee for the King Clancy Award, in defenseman Connor Murphy.
Murphy has been nominated for the third time for the King Clancy by the Blackhawks.
The award symbolizes the individual's exemplary leadership and humanitarian contributions.
Murphy may not be the team's best defenseman, but as an Alternate Captain on the team, he has been a great leader for the up-and-coming Blackhawks rookies.
Murphy also contributes off the ice, visiting first responders and gifting them lunches, to Fire Stations in the Chicago area for example.
The 31-year-old, also volunteers regularly at a local Chicago Children's Hospital, with his Blackhawks teammates. He has also contributed his time to the Ronald McDonald House, along with an air hockey table.
Murphy will get a shot to be the Blackhawk's first King Clancy Memorial Trophy winner since 1988, its year of inception.
Winners of various NHL awards will be revealed in late June during the NHL Awards ceremony.
