It's likely that general manager Kyle Davidson will make a move to trade Jason Dickinson from his roster in attempt to acquire more young talent while shedding his $4.85 million salary for this year. Trading this player does make a lot of sense as he is at the highest value he can be especially after his last season's production.
He had the best production of his career as he played all 82 games for the Blackhawks and had 22 goals with 13 assists and 35 points while being a + 4 with 43 penalty minutes. Head coach Luke Richardson had confidence in Dickinson and gave him a chance to thrive which he reciprocated with over twenty goals.
While some may feel keeping him on the roster would be the best option as he is 29 years old and has played for two other organizations who were the Dallas Stars and the Vancouver Canucks. But during a rebuild phase, any player with high value that can bring back value will certainly be looked at.
He also holds cost certainty as he still has another year on his deal after this coming season. His cap next season for 2025-2026 will just be $3.65 million. It's quite likely that a contender will attempt to pry him from the Blackhawks as he would give production for a playoff run.
Blackhawks fans will sit and wait for June 28th when the first round of the draft begins and with the team holding second overall it remains to be seen on what Davidson will do.
The first round will begin at 7:00 PM eastern in Las Vegas NV.
