Vancouver Canucks Announce Late Night Blockbuster Trade With The Pittsburgh Penguins
The Vancouver Canucks aren't done at they announce a sneaky 1am blockbuster deal with the Pittsburgh Penguins this Saturday morning, just hours after JT Miller traded to the New York Rangers in ground breaking fashion on Friday night.
Now the Canucks and the aging-Pittsburgh Penguins complete a questionable move, but it seems as though Vancouver has struck big, aside from giving up a key asset of a 1st round draft pick in this end of the deal.
Quickly swapping their first-round pick just acquired moments ago, as well as quickly sending players packing after their 5-3 loss to the Dallas Stars.
Moments before puck drop, the Canucks traded Miller, alongside defenseman
Erik Brannstrom and Jason Dorrington to the New York Rangers in exchange for injury-prone forward
Filip Chytil and defenseman Victor Mancini.
Further details on Penguins/Canucks trade
No salary is retained in the transaction.
Drew O'Connor, acquired by Vancouver, is a 24-year old 6'4" 210lb forward, who is coming off a career season last year, tallying 33-points in 79 games played; his first full-time NHL season.
Pettersson, is a unrestricted free agent, currently making $4.025 million this year. Heinen is a former Penguin acquired by the Canucks and is now heading back to Pittsburgh.
Desharnais is signed through the 2025-26 season, a former member of the Edmonton Oilers, carries an average of $2 million in his third NHL season of his career.
It seems like an even trade on both sides, who do you declare the winner?
