The Chicago Blackhawks were speculated to call up Frank Nazar once Joey Anderson cleared waivers. So why haven't they?

Joey Anderson was waived yesterday since he was unable to crack the Blackhawks line up recently. Ilya Mikheyev has found a new home on the 3rd line, the line Anderson found himself stapled to last season, with center Jason Dickinson, and Colin Blackwell(at times).

Since Anderson has cleared waivers, there's been speculation that tonight the Blackhawks would call up Frank Nazar.

Anderson, 26, hasn't played since Nov. 23 but has been, statistically, one of Chicago's better defensive forwards. The Blackhawks are desperately searching for offense, however.

Nazar has been lighting up the AHL, scoring 24 points( 11 G, 13 A) in 20 games with the IceHogs. He's due for a look in the big leagues, and tonight would be a great start against the New York Rangers on their home ice.

Instead, we have news it may not happen just yet.

According to NHL Insider Elliotte Friedman, it was to be expected that he'd be called up today.

But given his recent track record, it's hard to tell whether he'll end up being correct tonight or not.

Nazar was the 13th overall draft pick in the 2022 NHL Draft and has been on a tear in the AHL. During his NHL debut against the Carolina Hurricanes he scored his first NHL goal and would play 3 games in the bigs before being sent to Rockford.

A call-up would be ideal for Nazar who knows Anders Sorensen well, it appears the Hawks are intent of ensuring he develops correctly.

Either way, he'd be a great 2C, to Connor Bedard.
