It was revealed yesterday that former Blackhawks superstar Patrick Kane had been demoted to the second line after spending the early days of this season on the top line.

The surprise moves by head coach Derek Lalonde has been measured as a way for the team to find chemistry amidst their top six as Detroit tries to get out of their slow start this season. Lalonde also decided to move J.T. Compher to the 1st power play unit to ignite his power play as it appears no chemistry was found between Kane and Alex Debrincat.

Many felt that the Blackhawks rival would continue their new season much the same way as they left off their last. The Red Wings went on an incredible run and took the team to Game 82 which had enough points to make the playoffs but fell short in the tiebreaker rules.

Kane has recently woken up in terms of point getting as he has played seven games, scored two goals with three assists for five points and is a - 1. He signed a one-year deal with the Red Wings for $4 million as he felt the team was the right choice this summer to remain with.

After undergoing major surgery on his hip, Kane was forced to delay his season but then choosing to sign with the Red Wings last year.

It remains to be seen if Kane can continue the pace, he was last year as he is now 35 years old and did have major health trouble. But it's likely he still has gas in the tank and could become a point per game player again depending on how the Red Wings do over the course of the season.

It's also likely Lalonde will continue to tinker with his lines to find the best combination that will help him get back on track and get it back into playoff discussions.
