Red Wings Sign Emmitt Finnie to Three-Year Entry Level Contract
Steve Yzerman, the general manager of the Detroit Red Wings, has just added another promising young talent to the team.
Emmitt Finnie, the center drafted by Detroit in the 2023 NHL Draft at the 201st overall pick in the 7th round, has just inked a three-year entry level contract. He'll be lacing up his skates for the Grand Rapids Griffins, the American Hockey League Affiliate, for the remainder of this current season.
Finnie has managed to score an impressive 19 goals and provide 40 assists in 62 games played while competing for the Kamloops Blazers in the WHL this season.
Always in the right place, he consistently influences the play even without the puck. A non-stop engine powers him up and down the rink, making up space to poke away pucks on the backcheck and force turnovers on the forecheck. He enters every battle with a couple of shoulder checks to find options and has the skill to connect. -EliteProspects 2023 NHL Draft Guide
