Leon Draisaitl reportedly on his way out of Edmonton to join this team
Reports surfaced today indicating that Edmonton Oilers' superstar Leon Draisaitl might be eyeing a move to the Boston Bruins.
Former Edmonton Oilers enforcer George Laraque revealed on BPM Sports that Draisaitl is intrigued by the idea of joining the Bruins if contract negotiations with the Oilers fall through.
According to Laraque, an insider within the Oilers organization suggested that if the team fails to make a deep playoff run, Draisaitl may opt not to re-sign with Edmonton and instead pursue a first-line center role in Boston.
''Someone well placed within the Oilers organization said that if the Oilers don't go deep in the playoffs, he doesn't see Draisaitl re-signing at the end of his deal and that he'd prefer to be a first-line center in Boston.''
This rumor isn't entirely new, as Oilers reporter Jim Matheson previously hinted at Draisaitl's potential interest in joining the Bruins.
''Jim Matheson believes that the Boston Bruins would «move heaven and earth» to bring in Leon Draisaitl if he becomes available by any means. Matheson also makes it clear though, that he believes Draisaitl wants to remain in Edmonton and will sign a contract extension.''
If Draisaitl were to depart for Boston, it would undoubtedly be a significant loss for the Oilers. Drafted in 2014, Draisaitl has been a key player to the organization, and ultimately it could lead Connor McDavid out of the organization if his best buddy, Leon Draisaitl, exits the team.
