Jacob Trouba nearly decapitates opponent with skate blade in big hit
Close Call in Rangers-Hurricanes Game at Madison Square Garden
Last night at Madison Square Garden, during Game 2 between the New York Rangers and the Carolina Hurricanes, there was a tense moment that nearly turned serious.
Rangers defenseman Jacob Trouba, who's known for his tough playing style, almost hit Hurricanes center Martin Necas very hard during the first overtime.
The Rangers were trying hard to win in overtime when Trouba went for a big hit against Necas near the side of the rink. Necas quickly ducked, avoiding Trouba's elbow just in time.
Trouba lost his balance from missing the hit and crashed headfirst into the boards.
His right leg even accidentally hit Necas's head. Luckily, both players were okay and kept playing, and the Rangers won the game 4-3.
Jacob Trouba has gotten in trouble before for being too rough. He's been suspended several times during his 11 years playing hockey, including once earlier this season.
That time, he got a two-game suspension for hitting Pavel Dorofeyev of the Vegas Golden Knights in the head with his elbow.
