NHL delivers 8-game suspension to enforcer New York Rangers forward Matt Rempe following a controversial collision with Dallas Stars' Miro Heiskanen

The NHL has assessed Matt Rempe, a rookie enforcer who has made a name for himself in the league through controversial hits like such, an eight-game suspension for boarding/elbowing Dallas Stars defenseman Miro Heiskanen.

Rempe was offered an in-person hearing by the NHL, typically meaning the discipline is subject to five plus games.

He was assessed a two-minute minor and was ejected from the game, for the fourth time in his NHL career (which is 22 NHL games).

Rempe has continued to throw rampant hits like these, making many 'fans' question if he deserves to play in the NHL ever again.

With the Rempe announcement later today, just a reminder that he was suspended for 4 games in March for this hit.

Matt Rempe is considered a repeat offender as it's within 18 months.

He's considered a repeat offender under Player Safety guidelines and will forfeit $80K in salary during his suspension, relays Chris Johnston of TSN and The Athletic. He'll still count against the active roster and the team's salary cap during that time, reducing the Rangers' flexibility for an extended period.

Rempe has the decision to appeal the eight-game suspension handed out by the department of player safety if he would like to, but is there even a point? Let us know by voting in the poll below.
