Blake Wheeler announces retirement according to reports
Multiple players have stepped forward with their retirement announcements following be eliminated from the playoffs, and now we sadly have one more.
Blake Wheeler has made a big decision after being a limited by the Florida Panthers in the playoffs, Wheeler will announce his retirement shortly.
Wheeler suffered a crucial injury in the regular season against the Montréal Canadiens, and would then sit on the long-term injury reserve list until the end of the regular season.
Wheeler Wood return in game four of the Stanley Cup playoffs and the Eastern conference final, but a brutal penalty that would ultimately end up costing the entire game.
Wheeler is a unrestricted free agent and has played 1172 games in the NHL, with a whopping 943 points underneath his belt. If he ends up taking his retirement announcement back, he will be one of the most sought after free agents.
