It's been addressed and it's over for Auston Matthews and the Leafs
The Toronto Maple Leafs are facing a do-or-die situation as they head into Game 6 against the Boston Bruins tonight, and it seems like they won't be 'do-ing' much without their star player, once again. The latest update on star forward Auston Matthews doesn't bring much optimism, and it appears like it's over for Matthews and the Leafs.
NHL insider Chris Johnston provided a concerning update on Matthews' status earlier today. Despite the crucial aspect of being eliminated tonight, Matthews opted for a solo skate this morning instead of joining his teammates for the formal gameday skate. This decision suggests that Matthews will not be available to play in Game 6.
"Auston Matthews skated at Scotiabank Arena earlier this morning and isn't on the ice now with #leafs teammates for the formal morning skate. That's not an encouraging sign about his availability for Game 6,"
Johnston reported.
For the Maple Leafs, facing elimination without Matthews, one of their key players, is a significant setback.
