Due to the fractured jaw of Connor Bedard, he will be out long-term and has been placed on injured reserve.
Bedard was injured during the team's 4-2 loss to the New Jersey Devils on Jan. 5th, where the team also lost Nick Foligno and Connor Bedard that night to injury.
Following a hit by Devils defenseman Brendan Smith, he left the ice, favoring his mouth.
It has been a whirlwind rookie season for Bedard, considering he's already been nominated for his first All-Star Game.
In 39 games this season, he has 18 goals and 15 assists with 33 points, leading all NHL rookies.
This year's All-Star Game will take place in Toronto on February 3rd.
Bedard's return date will be longer than we all want, as if the timeline is accurate, he will miss Patrick Kane and the Detroit Red Wings after February 25th.
His next game, if he has to miss the full 8 weeks, will be against the Washington Capitals on March 9th, 2024.
Those are tough breaks for a rookie learning the game at the professional level in the NHL.
There's still hope that he can maintain his dominance and win a Calder Trophy, however.
