21-year old goaltender suddenly loses life in weekend hockey tournament game
21-year old ice hockey goaltender suffers cardiac arrest and passes during game
This past weekend a hockey tournament in Quebec ended in tragedy.
Twenty-one-year-old goalie Zachary Bourassa passed away from a sudden cardiac arrest while playing the sport he loved.
The tournament was held at Martin-Bergeron Park in Trois-Rivieres.
His family has made it clear that his death wasn't caused by the game itself in a Facebook post. His mother shared the sad news on Facebook, saying that her son died doing what he loved most.
Last night, Zachary left us while practicing his favorite sport. He leaves a giant void around him, he was so young and had his whole life ahead of him. Please watch over us and your beautiful Elo. We love you Zach.
In response, people have started a makeshift memorial at the park where he died. They are leaving hockey sticks, flowers, and other items to remember him.
Our deepest condolences to those affected by this tragedy, and our thoughts and prayers go out to every loved one involved.
