In today's NHL, usually, when a team selects a player in the top five, they know this player will be NHL-ready and have an immediate impact on their team. Five through 10 there's a good chance the player will be on their team that year or the next year as they may need a little bit of seasoning.

Jeremy Roenick was selected by the Blackhawks 35 years ago today. He was chosen in the 1988 NHL draft first round 8th overall. As most people know, he stood six feet one inch tall and played the center position.

He spent eight seasons with the Blackhawks during the early 90s he
managed to amass three 100-point-plus seasons which included a trip to the Stanley Cup in 1992 against the Pittsburgh Penguins. He scored 22 points in that playoff. Unfortunately for the Blackhawks, they were swept in four games by the Penguins.

After he left the Blackhawks, he played for five other NHL organizations. During his illustrious career, he played 1363 games and scored 513 goals with 703 assists for 1216 points.

I feel it's awful he has not been granted a chance to be in the Hockey Hall of Fame.
