A list of who the Chicago Blackhawks Should Re-sign
The Chicago Blackhawks are focusing on building a strong team around their future 1st round draft pick and center, Connor Bedard. As they continue with their rebuild, they need to evaluate their UFAs and RFAs to ensure they surround Bedard with a competitive team.
Kyle Davidson should consider bringing back Andreas Athanasiou, who has proven himself by scoring 20 goals this season and leading the team with 67 high-danger scoring chances while on the ice at even strength.
Alex Stalock should also be considered for re-signing due to his ability to bring stability back to the crease and win a full-time spot after being thought unable to play again. He was even nominated for the Masterton Trophy.
Among the RFAs, Philip Kurashev is still capable of proving his worth, having been utilized in the top six and on special teams.
He is an all-around player that the team could use and could be signed on a bridge deal in the meantime. Joey Anderson is a valuable bottom-six role player who has potential on the PK.
Caleb Jones, as a defenseman who can play both sides of the ice, would also be a solid addition to the team, but he is also a liability on the blue line. Will the Blackhawks split the Jones brothers up? Likely not.
Ian Mitchell could be brought back on a short-term contract, but he has yet to break into the lineup full-time and could benefit from a change of scenery.
