As the NHL regular season began, Lukas Reichel shifted from playing wings to playing center.

After his short stint in the NHL last season, Reichel appeared ready to take the leap into a regular NHL position.

After posting 15 points in 23 games last season, Reichel appeared to be the most hyped prospect on the team until Connor Bedard arrived.

His start to the season has been dismal since he switched to center, with only two assists in 13 games. In addition, he has not been able to generate offensive opportunities.

It seems the newly-minted center's leash is shortening because of his lack of production.

Richardson on Reichel: "His speed was more noticeable a little while ago, and then you start thinking about it too much... Unfortunately [for] a guy like that, at some point he's got to produce. We're just trying to be encouraging."

The speed Richardson has on ice is noticeable, but he relented after noticing his production has dwindled.

Reichel may be capable of turning things around, but with statements like these, are we looking at a return to the AHL?

Regardless, he will have to find a way to produce to stay in the lineup and it sounds as if the Blackhawks are being encouraging with the center. But even if he is AHL bound, this can't be the final chapter int he Hawks for Reichel.
