BREAKING: Alex DeBrincat is on The Move
Reports indicate that Alex DeBrincat has informed his team that he will not be renewing his contract, surprising many fans amidst their ongoing rebuild.
This means that Pierre Dorion, the team's general manager, will be exploring the trade market for the former 40-goal scorer.
Per Elliotte Friedman, the Senators are gauging the market on two-time 40-goal scorer Alex DeBrincat. Which team needs him most? 👀
Despite the Senators' decision to not offer a qualifying contract to the winger, it is expected that there will be interest from other teams willing to pay for his consistent performance.
Since his arrival in the NHL, DeBrincat has had only three seasons where he scored less than 30 goals and only one season with fewer than 50 points.
Although this season may have been a downturn, he still managed to score 66 points.
Alex DeBrincat picked an unfortunate time to have his least impressive season. The Sens may be selling low on a player with a very strong track record. #GoSensGo
DeBrincat has stated that he is not ready to sign a new contract yet, as he wants to wait until the sale of the Senators is complete before discussing numbers. This decision may ultimately benefit both parties in the long run.
